    News

    ·        Math:  We will be reviewing comparing, ordering and rounding numbers for our test on Wednesday. Thursday we will begin our new unit on addition and subtraction with larger numbers.

    ·        Writing:  We will fully immerse ourselves in memoirs this week. We are looking at characteristics of memoirs and the different ways memoir authors "reflect" on their moment in time.

    ·        Reading:  We will continue our “Life as a Reader” unit. We are talking about just right books, which are books are our level and we are able to comprehend as well as read fluently. We will be talking about what our strategy is when we get to a tricky word and how readers move past the tricky word.

    ·        Science:  This week we are looking at ecosystems and the flow of energy through those ecosystems.

    ·        Social Studies: We start our new unit study on Africa. As you can imagine there are many different tribes and countries in Africa but we will be focusing on West Africa. This is to prepare us for a visit from a West African drum and dance group from Mali, Africa.
